Summer Facilties Crew Member-Promise Camp

Promise Camp is a highly relational, Christ-centered, residential summer camp.  Campers range between 7 and 17 years of age and are frequently from unchurched, single-parent families, and from various cultural backgrounds. The camp program is divided into 6 one-week.   Family Guidance offers ten days of on-site paid training as well as supervision and assistance throughout the camp.

 

Position Summary:  The facilities crew member helps to clean and maintain facilities, stock restroom areas, and help with grounds keeping duties (mowing, weed whacking, poison ivy control, etc.).

 

The Position Requires:

  • A devoted relationship and mature walk with Jesus Christ.
  • Satisfactory criminal & civil background check (Promise Camp provides).
  • Being at least 15 years of age.
  • Having a positive upbeat attitude toward other staff and the youth who are served.
  • The willingness to have a broken up daily schedule.

 

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Dedicate each day to God through prayer, and rely upon God's strength and leading throughout each day of camp.
  • Work with fellow staff and campers to establish relationships that honor Jesus. Work cooperatively with and under the direction of the Camp Director, ultimately following their lead.
  • Participate in the Promise Camp orientation and training. Follow camp policies, training, and instruction.
  • Clean each area of the camp as assigned by the Facilities Manager. Restrooms will be cleaned and maintained several times per day while other areas of the camp will be cleaned on a less frequent but regular basis.
  • Stock bathroom and other common-use areas of camp. This includes making sure cold drinking water and cups are available at all times to outdoor use areas.
  • Helping to perform basic maintenance such as light bulb replacement and simple repairs.
  • Helping to maintain the swimming pool including chemical testing, monitoring, and administration as well as pool cleaning.
  • Helping to mow, pull weeds, use outdoor power equipment, and other grounds keeping tasks under the direction of the Camp Director.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Able to safely use a variety of equipment and tools
  • Safely drive different types of available vehicles including a ton pickup truck and 15 passenger van
  • Physical strength and ability to lift 50# and carry it at least 50 feet
  • Physical strength and ability to dig, load, repair, etc
  • Safely operate and maintain tractor with lawn mower attachments
