Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant-Promise Camp and Retreat Center

The Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant is a part-time, 10-month position to periodically assist the Facilities Manager with cleaning and minor maintenance needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Clean and prepare building for off-season use.
  2. Assist the Camp Director and Facilities Manager with maintenance and facilities management duties.
  3. Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

Qualifications:

  1. Adherence to Gospel values
  2. Strong moral character including conscientiousness and dependability
  3. A passion for reaching, serving, and discipling the lost, as well as to grow leaders who can do the same
  4. Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ
  5. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  6. Prior commercial experience or the ability to be trained
  7. Basic mechanical abilities
  8. The schedule flexibility and availability to complete the various activities and requirements with an irregular schedule
  9. The ability to work effectively and efficiently while self-managing time and tasks with little direction

Cognitive Abilities:

  1. The ability to get along with others and engage them in projects or activities
  2. The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.
  3. The ability to shift focus from one task to another.
  4. The ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  5. The ability to remain calm in difficult situations.

The employee is regularly required to:

  • sit, stand, kneel, climb ladders, etc.
  • use hand to finger, handle, or feel to operate cleaning tools and maintenance equipment

The employee is frequently required to:

  • reach with hands and arms for supplies and to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks

The employee is occasionally required to:

  • stand when conversaing with various individuals
  • walk throughout facilities, camp property, and public spaces
  • stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to place items in or get items from low drawers or shelves
  • lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, which may be cleaning supplies, boxes, furniture, etc.
  •  

Specific vision abilities required by this job include:

  • close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus when driving and when walking throughout facilities
  • close vision for detail work

The employee is frequently exposed to:

  • Outdoor weather during camp, retreats, and the regular course of duties.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate because it is an open office setting with business machines operating, phones ringing, and people talking. The employee may be exposed to loud noise when driving to external sites or while in a store or at camp. where there can be a lot of activity
